Efforts are being made to transform this town into an attractive point for tourists, because it is advantaged by its geographical position, by the many resorts, sightseeing here and in the neighborhood, and also by the extraordinary people that live here.

The climate has some specific features, especially because of the Carpathian chains, that fulfill a roll of screen, hindering the cold wind from north-east. Being at screen, it has a climate with Mediterranean nuance, with mild winters, without great blizzards, with cool and prolonged summers, with a favorable atmospheric equilibrium. The temperature of the air reaches an average level of 9,6°C yearly. The average of January reaches a temperature -2.4°C, but the average of June a temperature of 19,9°C. The precipitations usually are constant, reaching at a yearly medium level of 976 mm.

The sightseeings of Coltau

Beside the castle there is the other building that was built for the servants, in baroque style, about at the year 1660.

Now the building is used as school. In the park of the castle even now lives the ash tree, under which played the band of Laci Pocsi, the famous gypsy musician, for Frank Liszt. Farther behind toward the cornel tree there is a more than 300 years old cypress, the cornel, that was more than 300 years old, collapsed in a summer storm at 1997, is replaced by a younger one, under which there is the stone table, upon which the poet has written the most beautiful poems.

Beside the park there is the reformed church built in 1819-1828, here hold under the baptizing water the Petofi couple a girl named Katalin Sebestyen. In the neighborhood of the church was handed over  at the year 2000 a modern building, used for different manifestation,     in its attic there are bedrooms for the guests. Near to this there is the “Heroes square”, where there is a monument with the names of the heroes died in the first and second                                The Reformed church

world war.

Opposite to the Heroes square there is the cultural house “Sandor Petofi”.

Going toward the cemetery, we go by the spring “Vaida”, which got its name from the settled gypsies in the village. It is a very abundant spring, and one tells, that also the young Petofi couple walked frequently here. At the end of the village there is the reformed cemetery, on the north-eastern corner are resting Sandor Teleki and his wife. Also here the panorama is fantastic.

Rural tourism in Coltau

In houses with bathrooms, double bedrooms, specific hospitality is waiting on the tourists. It is possible, if the visitor wants, to get acquainted with the life of the gardeners, the animals and household here.
